RARE ARMY DAGGER MINIATURE BY ALCOSO.

As many of you know I have collected miniature daggers for a great many years. I’ve been asked to write a reference book on them, and that’s something I may do in the future. In the years I’ve collected, I have never had one of this type of miniatures until recently. Alcoso made the BEST range of miniature daggers during the period. RAD Officer, army, 2nd Luft, Hunting Association and the very rare navy miniature. Beautiful things in perfect detail. I thought that was all they did, but I was wrong as this dagger proves. It’s 7 3/4” overall and was made as a pure letter opener and did not come with a scabbard. The hilt/crossguard is cast in one piece and nickel plated. The blade is a steel stiletto type and nickel/chrome plated. The riccasso is deeply etched with the later Alcoso trademark, of scales and name above in an arch. This is purely made to be used properly. Not to the quality of their other products, but very well done. It is my opinion that these were commercially made by Alcoso and sold to others as a ‘cheap’ letter opener. I have another identical example with NO Alcoso trademark, so the ones they sold themselves, they put the trademark on, the others were plain.
Quite a unique thing. If you collect miniatures, here is one you definitely won’t have!
