RARE DOUBLE MARKED SS ‘33 DAGGER M7/49.

I will only buy SA and SS daggers from the RZM period that are in excellent condition or better. This makes them hard to find as the materials used from approx 1939 onwards, have not stood up to the test of time well. I am happy to say this dagger by Friedr. Herder Abr. Sohn RZM M7/49, is an exception. (You usually see Richard Herder pieces) The plated hilt fittings show a little age, but the vast majority of the nickel plated grey alloy fittings, have fill covering. The black ebony grip in in perfect, near mint condition. Has a very nice eagle and perfect enamel SS runes button. The scabbard again has the later plated fittings, but the nickel plating is 95% intact. The ORIGINAL black painted scabbard is in near perfect shape. The black surface has spidered a little with age, but it’s all there! The blade is marvellous!! In stone mint condition with all the original crossgrain finish. The SS motto is deep and crisp with all the background in the lettering.
The reverse riccasso carried a large RZM circle with the M7/49 and under that is their contract number 1203/38 SS. Great to have the contract number as well and the date of manufacture 1938.
There is an odd black leather hanger and steel snap clip attached to the scabbard top ring. It’s a period strap, so I have left it on the dagger.
A very nice piece.
