KREIGSMARINE OFFICERS DAGGER WITH KNOT. After quite a long period of not having any navy daggers in stock, I have been lucky enough to acquire quite a few over the past few months. Has meant me spending many hours on the computer, and an awful lot of driving, to auctions and private homes. But it's all worth it!! (isn't it?). This is a very good example of a navy dagger, complete with a later rayon knot, by the well known maker WKC. Has the WKC letters and the company logo of a Knights helmet, STAMPED into the blade ricasso. Brass fittings retain a little of the fire guilding here and there, celluloid grip is perfect, with brass twisted wire. Rayon knot has turned a nice golden colour. It is tied in the regulation knot pattern across the crossguard. The chord just above the ball is quite frayed, but still sound. Brass scabbard, is virtually dent free and is a nice bright colour. Blade is beautiful, with all the original grey finish to the dolphin/anchor etch, and a needle sharp point. NICE DAGGER.

PAIR OF IDENTICAL NAVY DAGGERS FROM SAME FAMILY!!!! I was lucky enough to recently add these two daggers to my stock, and they have been purchased directly from the original veterans family in the Birmingham area. (I purchased a similar pair of daggers in the Coventry area last year). These are not mint but certainly Exc++ and both are in the same condition. Both are by the same maker, Eickhorn, and have the later 'over the shoulder' 1941 trademark. Blade are near mint, with all the charcoal grey background finish intact, so have never been polished!!! A couple of minor finger smudges on each blade. All fittings are brass and have much of the original fire gilt left on them. The scabbards are both the engraved types and have a lot of the gilt remaining in the unexposed parts, beside the scabbard bands etc etc. They really are a matched pair, and should not really be split, as they came back from the war like this, and should end their days together!!! Great pair of Kreigsmarine daggers.(price for the pair, but will possibly split)

PERSONALISED/DEDICATED NAVY DAGGER BY HOLLER!!!! This is a navy dagger with EVERYTHING going for it! Has a SAILING ship etched balde by HOLLER, original bullion knot. Scabbard has a beautiful, two line presentation/dedication dated 1941, and in the next space on the scabbard the owners initials 'WF' are engraved also. The script reads as follows "GEWIDMET-VON-NACHTRICHTENBAUR OFF WEIHACHTEN 1941" (roughly a gift from signals officers with respect 1941) If anyone has a better, accurate translation, please let me know. A wonderful navy dagger and possibly researchable. Personalised navy daggers are pretty rare, and this is a nice example.

KREIGSMARINE DAGGER WITH ORANGE GRIP!! Navy daggers have long been my favourite, but one type is really beautiful, and I was lucky enough to buy one locally from the family of the British veteran. This is a classis WKC navy officers dagger with solid celluloid grip that is now a tangerine orange colour! It also has the added cost option of a beautiful hammered scabbard!! A wonderful combination. Blade has the standard dolphin/anchor type etch, but is in mint condition with all the background burnish. A very nice dagger indeed. One small point, the eagle pommel is turned 180 degrees, so is in fact looking backwards when the dagger is facing you. This happens over the years as washers and wood shrinks, the pommel takes up the slack and turns a little more. Could be easily rectified by adding an extra blade washer, or shim under the pommel, but I will leave it as it is.)sold Serg)

KREIGSMARINE DAGGER WITH ETCHED BLADE Another good example of a period piece, clasic navy dagger. This is by HORSTER, a more unusual maker. Largest manufacturers were Eickhorn and then WKC, so virtually all of the navy daggers I find are by these two makers. To get another makers blade is good fun, and HORSTER are not that common. Good cream celluloid grip with no damae or cracks. Nice quality brass fittings, eagle, crossguard etc. Decent conditioned balde, etch is very clear and is the standard dolphins and anchor type. Background grey finish is a little faded with age and cleaning, but still present. Good quality scabbard, with just a few age knocks etc. Nice navy dagger. Fits very tightly in the scabbard.

KRIEGSMARINE OFFICERS DAGGER A good example of a classic navy dagger with the much rarer plain blade and no maker!! I have always loved navy daggers, had a collection of over 30 different types at one time. It seems, according to the Eickhorn catalogue, that the normally seen 'etched' blade was a COST option. The dagger was standard with a plain blade. 98% of purchasers seemsed to go for the cost option. The plain blade seems to have been left to the Quartermasters stores etc., who had to keep a small stock of daggers for parade use, but did not want to pay extra for the etched balde..no need! Anyway, that's my theory! Nice looking dagger, clean, undamaged celluliod over wood grip. Nice brass fittings, very clean, bright blade, needle sharp. scabbrd is in good condition. A few light carrying knocks, but no serious damage. I know everyone likes an etched blade, but plain ones are MUCH rarer.

Kreigsmarine dagger by F.W.Holler Not a mint piece, but very collectable. Has had it's brass scabbard and fittings polished recently, so looks very good, but no original fire gilt left. Holler ONLY made one type of navy dagger, and they all have the sailing ship etched blade pattern. Holler daggers also had the unique 'springy wire' grip wrap. Of course this dagger has both of these features. Cream celluloid grip is perfect. Blade has a nice clear etch, but is lacking some of the 'crisp' detail of a stone mint blade. Scabbard has a few carrying dents, but nothing more. A good, honest dagger and priced correctly.

WKC NAVY DAGGER, ORANGE GRIP, HAMMERED SCABBARD & HANGERS!!! I have always been extremely fond of navy daggers, I find them elegant and beautiful to look at. This example is all of that and more!!! Has beautiful solid celluloid grip that is a tangerine orange colour. All brass fittings are in excellent condition, there is some original gilt left, but mainly just a great brass colour. Scabbard is the hammered variety, is a little worn with use to the surfaces, but also has the reef knot suspension bands. Blade is a classic WKC type being slightly thinner than say the Eickhorn blade. However, it is in MINT condition with deep etching background, contrasted with the 100% bright plated blade. Looks fantastic. Dagger also has a matching pair of navy hangers in near mint condition. I could take these off and sell them separately, but have opted to leave with the dagger!!! A great looking rig.

Third Reich Navy officers dagger by Eickhorn. I have always liked navy daggers, they remain one of the most attractive German daggers, in my opinion. Has a good covering of original gilt, especially on the pommel and the hilt. Grip is a nice cream celluloid, with no damage or cracks. Scabbard has some gilt to the top half, a few slight dents to the lower part of the scabbard. Blade is very nice indeed. There is a finger smudge to the ricasso of the blade, preventing it from being mint. However, the rest of the blade is clean, and the charcoal background etch is perfect. A very good example of a navy dagger.

Very nice Eickhorn navy dagger, with bullion knot!!!! Always a very popular dagger, as navy pieces look so good! Something to do with all the gilt and brass I think. This is an extremely nice Eickhorn naval officers dagger complete with the original bullion knot, tied in the original way. A great deal of gilt left on the crossguard and pommel, a nice grip, no damage. Blade is virtually mint and has all the coal black/grey etch. Stamped 1938 Eickhorn trademark. Scabbard has some gilt left, and down towards the bottom, there are some 'train door' dents.
