LUFTWAFFE 2nd. Pattn dagger, complete rig.!TIGER!
Always a favourite dagger of mine, they just look right!! The proportions are good and the design is a classic type. Downswept crossguard, heart shaped pommel etc etc. This daggers was purchased as acomplete rig from my local auction. It's quite obvious that everything has always been together since this came back from the war as a souvenir. Knot is tied correctly and has been there for ever. Hangers look to have been attached to the rings and not removed. Has a great cream/white grip with no damage, silvered wire intact. Scabbard has a lot of the original blued finish present. Blade is marked with the sideways TIGER trademark. (I remember several years ago going to a dealer friend who had just purchased a Luftwaffe collection. It was ONLY 2nd Pattn Luftwaffe daggers, and there were about 300 of them. It was a sight to behold I can assure you!!!!) Blade is very bright and clean, and has quite a good percentage of crossgraining, however it is not mint and has some old finger smudges here and there.

Classic 2nd Luftwaffe dagger ORANGE grip, UNCLEANED.
Although this dagger has a plain, unmarked blade, it is a beautiful piece and has remained untouched and uncleaned since the war. Because of this, ALL of the original finish applied to these daggers when they left the factory, is still there. So all of the aluminium fittings and the steel scabbard, have the dark blue/grey oxidised finish present. There is a great deep orange contrasting grip, which looks wonderful against the dark metal. Blade is needle sharp and has all of the crossgraining present, with just a little age here and there. A great looking dagger!!

2nd. Pattn. LUFTWAFFE dagger, complete rig, knot & hangers.
This seems to be a complete set that has been together since the war, so I will not be the one to separate them!! A nice white handled Luftwaffe dagger, complete with the rayon knot that has toned with age. It also has a nice set of de-lux hangers to complete it. Blade is needle sharp and very clean. This is an unmarked version. Scabbard is dent free and shows some age, but has a lot of the original 'blue' scabbard finish. A nice looking rig.

A good used example of a 2nd Pattn Luftwaffe dagger by the more unusual maker PUMA. HAs the Puma head in a diamond. Has nice, undamaged orange grip with springy wire. Blade has some minor finger smudges, but will clean and is in very good overall condition. Scabbard has some light surface rust, but again will clean and still has much of the original blued finish underneath. One of the hanger bands and rings has been replaced, and they don't match. These were only fixed to the scabbard by heat/pressure, so it is not uncommon for one to come loose and fall off. Replacement looks totally period!
