These aluminium Luftwaffe daggers usually stand the test of time very well as the anodised aluminium finish does not age or oxidise. They virtually look the same now as they did in the 1930’s! Several companies made these. WKC, SMF, Horster etc. However the ones made by Eickhorn were slightly different as the gilding they used on the swastikas is not so ‘gold’ in colour and rather more a subdued pinkish colour. It’s not until you place different makers side by side, that you will see what I mean.
This dagger is in beautiful shape. Perfect leather to the grip and scabbard. Perfect finish to the aluminium surfaces and a nice nickel plated blade. The Eickhorn squirrel trademark used from 1935-41 is etched into the riccasso. A perfect aluminium chain with OLc marked clip.
